18th March 2020

Dear Parishioner,

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:2)

Following the directive of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York  all of our services of public worship at St Chad’s and St Alkmund’s have been suspended.

THERE WILL BE NO IN-PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  ALL EVENTS THROUGH TO AND INCLUDING 12th JUNE HAVE BEEN CANCELLED.

However, the work and love of Christ and we, His people, continues. We are committed to serving the community of Shrewsbury in whatever ways we can, and St Chad’s will remain open to all for personal prayer during the day. Our clergy are available to speak with you in this challenging time.

We are exploring opportunities to continue to connect, whether that is online, by phone, or through the post. In the coming days, we will share ways we can connect as community, as well as ways we can assist our neighbours in need and those who are sheltering in place.

Hold fast to God’s unchanging hand. You are not alone.

In Christ’s love,

Mother Peters

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life, to serve you is perfect freedom. Defend us your servants from all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (From Morning Prayer, Common Worship)
