Study & Prayer

Study & Prayer

This is an overview of the range of our activities but there may be new activities not yet mentioned here.

Christian Forum

is an opportunity to discuss and debate topical issues in an informal setting. The forum is usually chaired by a member of St Chads but all are very welcome, from other churches, from other faiths and indeed those with no faith at all. The Forum takes place on a Thursday evening, on an irregular basis, in the comfortable meeting room in the church.

Growing in Faith

These groups provide an opportunity for anyone to learn more about the Christian faith and its teaching. There are separate groups for adults and young people, and they run throughout the year, usually beginning in the autumn. For some people these will lead to confirmation.

House Groups

Groups providing an opportunity for fellowship and study of the Bible and other Christian literature offer a choice of day-time and evening meetings. There are currently regular ones on Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

Listening Ministry

Each Sunday after the 10am Eucharist, team members (from the congregation) remain available in St Aidan’s chapel to pray with any who would like to.

Living the Questions

This discussion home-group meets regularly on Thursday evenings, but not all year round. You may have a sense that you are alone in being a “thinking” Christian …… We offer a safe environment where people have permission to ask the questions they’ve always wanted to ask….. Thus honest doubt and discussion are the key, trying to reflect the insight of Jesus when he said ‘I am the Way’ (not ‘I am the Answer’). Each session is complete in itself focussing on a specific issue. We watch and listen to leading theologians via DVD and follow with open discussion.
