Current Work on the Church
Work started in February 2017 to repair the roof of our unique circular nave and vestibule, the stonework of the cornice and insulation above the ceiling. This follows the church being placed on the English Heritage “At Risk” register due to the deterioration of the roof and stonework.
This work is only possible due to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The whole project is likely to cost £300,000 and additional funds have been secured from The Friends of St. Chad’s Memorial Fund, The Owen Family Trust and The Listed Places of Work Grant Scheme; we are very grateful for all the support we have received.
The scheme will also cover further community, education and tourism projects at St. Chad’s. More details will be added as the project progresses.
