St Chad’s prayer

Our patron saint, St Chad, was the  first Bishop of Lichfield. He was a humble, gentle monk with a passion for Christ and an evangelistic zeal for Mission. As he walked about the Diocese his impact was enormous. It was not long after his death on 2nd March 672 that he was made a Saint.

St Chad’s Day 2023 was on March 2nd. For a message from the current Bishop of Lichfield on St Chad’s day, watch here.

This is the prayer said on this day by the Community of St Chad in this diocese:

Be with us, Lord, as we seek to follow in the footsteps of your servant Chad, whose humility and prayerfulness attracted so many to your kingdom.

Let our lives, like his, reflect the light of Christ and the hope of faith,

in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen
