We pray for God’s guidance for potential applicants, the selection panel and all of us in the process of finding an Incumbent for our parishes.
Please pray with us during the appointment process:
“Thy Kingdom come” within the town and church. Our work continues whomever is appointed.
“Thy will be done” so the God’s chosen candidate is installed, to help and lead us.
For a sense of God’s peace within any involved in the selection process.
For all of us, a sense of God’s joy throughout the process.
The Benefice Profile can be viewed here.
(Update: p23 the Diocesan loan scheduled for repayment by 2024, has been paid off early, so that as of February 2023 the parish is very pleased to be debt free.)

Interviews: The shortlisted candidates for our incumbency were invited for interview on Wednesday 8th March, 2023. Holy Communion was celebrated by Bishop Sarah at 9.30am. After a coffee break the candidates preached a short sermon. The appointments committee consisted of Lynne Addison and Susan Kelly (St Chads), John Clark and Jane Thompson (St Alkmund’s), Bishop Sarah, Archdeacon of Salop- Paul Thomas and Rev Andy Ackroyd, Area Dean. THANK YOU to everyone who contributed through prayer or any other means. There was indeed a sense of PEACE and JOY (see above) throughout the day; following the usual procedure we can say that an offer has been made and we are waiting on events now before we can make any further announcement. Your continued prayers for the work of God in Shrewsbury are kindly requested. |
