Safeguarding

Our community pledges itself to transparency of thought, word and deed.

St Chad’s is committed to Safeguarding and has adopted the National and Diocesan Safeguarding Policies.

We must also accept collective ownership of Safeguarding. The church safeguarding policy can be found here.

If you are concerned and wish to contact the church Safeguarding Co-ordinator, please email Martha McKirdy on [email protected]. Alternatively, to speak to a Warden about a safeguarding issue, please ring 07890 920376.

In an emergency please call 0303 003 1111 for Thirty One Eight

or dial 999 for Police help.

Contact Childline on 0800 1111 or visit their website https://www.childline.org.uk
Childline is a  free and confidential service for anyone under 19 where you are safe to talk about anything.

Although it is more a matter of GDPR than safeguarding, the following statement is included here for completeness:
A list of any ill or who are recently bereaved is prepared on a regular basis and published in the printed pew sheet to encourage prayer support for them; inclusion on the list is at the request of each individual. The pew sheet also appears on the church website; individuals on the list are made aware of this when they make their request.

St Chads church is part of Lichfield Diocese. In office hours you can contact the Diocesan safeguarding team on 01543 306030. Further Lichfield Diocese Safeguarding information is here.

All members of the PCC are requested to complete the basic and foundation Church of England safeguarding training. Certificates of completion should be forwarded to the church office for filing. Please direct any queries to info@stchadschurchshrewsbury.

We are also encouraging all members of the congregation with a current DBS form to inform the Safeguarding Co-ordinator, Martha McKirdy, who can be contacted on [email protected].
